The calculator processes stackable discounts sequentially. It subtracts the first discount from the original price, then applies the subsequent percentage or flat rate discount to the newly calculated subtotal, matching standard point-of-sale systems.
2 Can I calculate the original price if I only know the sale price?
Yes. If your current mode supports reverse calculation, you can input the final price and discount rate to discover the original price before markdown: `Original Price = Final Price / (1 - Discount Rate)`.
3 Is local sales tax computed before or after the discount?
In most jurisdictions, retail sales tax is computed on the final discounted price of the item rather than the original list price. Our tool calculates tax on the discounted subtotal by default.
